Our Story

Our first Official location in
the Myrtle Beach area.

Cool Lights was not my idea.

It was originally brought to my attention in 2014 when I was just 13 years old, and my new stepfather had opened a business with a friend of his own. In an effort to spend more time with me, I got to learn the trade and industry around puzzle lights and even got to have my first true road trip to Minnesota to gather our first product shipment. I spent most of the time driving back not sleeping but defying my parents' words to not touch anything, and I blossomed learning all new shapes and designs.

During our second summer selling the lights, we moved to a kiosk at one of the busiest outdoor shopping areas in Myrtle Beach, SC: Broadway At The Beach! I was so excited to be a part of this journey so much that I'd attempt to spend any time after school and my time over the summer at the kiosk. I made many memories with customers and also staff that I got to hire, train, and work with along the way. It made me the happiest I had ever been in a while. Of course, though, not all was meant to be as we closed up shop in 2018 and truly never thought I would have looked back.

In the past few years I had wanted to start the business again but was either told "no" or to leave it alone altogether. I couldn't listen. I was always designing new color combinations, drawing out a website design on paper, creating logos and forms, and everything else a business would need to run. I eventually decided to reach out to a wholesaler and place my first order-- a big step towards chasing my dream. Even now at 21, I wouldn't look back to the time we didn't have the business as it has brought joy to me just in the full year since I had begun coordinating plans to open it again. I had my Grand Opening on May 1, 2023, and couldn't be happier in achieving my goal.

Cool Lights currently offers 16 different colors, 2 lengths of cords, an LED lightbulb, and 1 Limited-Time, iridescent design. I can only hope to be able to bring more to our online store and even have a chance to showcase the lights again in a booth, kiosk, or storefront.
